Our Mission
The Oak Harbor Navy League Council is dedicated to fulfilling the missions of the national organization within our local area. As custodians of this responsibility, we strive to advance these causes with excellence. Our success hinges on the passion and dedication of individuals like you. Together, we can achieve remarkable outcomes that benefit our community and strengthen the sea services essential to our national defense.
Our Goals
We are tasked with three specific missions:
Enhance the morale of active-duty Sea Services personnel and their families.
Inform Congress and the American people of the importance of strong US seapower.
Support and educate young people about the Sea Services through youth programs such as the Naval Sea Cadet Corps, Naval Junior ROTC, and others.
Our value as a Navy League Council is measured solely by our accomplishments.
Community Engagement
Programming and community engagement are at the core of our strategy. We invest heavily in developing integrated solutions and delivering reliable tools to those who need them most. Discover more about our innovative campaigns and stay up-to-date with our latest efforts.
Community Programs
We are proud to partner with the community to run various programs, including:
Parades
Military Appreciation Picnic
Veterans Day Program
Navy or Marine Corps Birthday Observances
Sea, Shore & Reserve Service Recognition
These events help foster a strong bond between the military and our local community, enhancing mutual support and understanding.
Supporting Sea Service Families
Imagine the challenges of raising a family when one parent is away for months at a time, often on dangerous missions. With the increasing length of sea service deployments and fewer shore assignments, the pressure on sea service families is ever-growing. We recognize these challenges and are dedicated to providing support.
Investing In Our Youth
Recognizing that our nation's future depends on our youth, we are committed to aiding the development of positive character traits in young people. The Oak Harbor Council aims to contribute to the development of tomorrow's leaders and productive adults.
Naval Sea Cadet Corps: Provides youth with leadership training, seamanship skills, and opportunities to experience life at sea, fostering discipline and teamwork.
Navy Junior ROTC: Available in local high schools, this program emphasizes citizenship, leadership, and the values of national service, preparing students for future leadership roles whether they choose a military career or not.
